brownouts,blackouts and surges
Brownouts

Brownouts are an drop in voltage. Brownouts may last for some milliseconds or up to some minute or hours, half the time you wont even know that you have experienced brownout.
Blackouts
Now a blackout also known as (a power outage, power cut) is the total lost of voltage/power. Blackout may take long periods to be fixed. Some blackouts may spread over a long distance of areas.
Blackouts may be caused by a lot of things
for example:
- damaged power lines
- short circuits
- many times car accidents
How to protect computer appliances.
Now blackout can cause a lot of things like data lost and damage to equipment. Ways to stop this are buying a UPS plug ( uninterruptible power supply), This can provide a constant power during a power outage but only for a short period of time.
Surges
Power surges are a spike in voltage or a oversupply of power. A surge may last for for 50 microseconds, they have a very short duration and may be sending 6,000 volts and 3,000 amps.
